This, from our attorney, in response to, "What's going on in Detroit?"
"The Canadian Consulate General in Detroit does appear to be experiencing delays in issuing the initial assessments for Skilled Worker cases, and the time frame given to you previously was merely an estimate, based on the combined processing times of the Consulates in the USA. It is true that some applications that were transferred to other offices in the USA are starting to be finalized, unfortunately this is not the case for files in Detroit. There are several applications at the visa office that have not yet received assessments. From recent experience, it appears that the Consulate is currently assessing applications for which the Acknowledgements of Receipt were issued in March of 2005. "
Okay, now find out why they're slow as molasses...

It must be a Detroit thing.
You should be called for your medicals very soon.
I am curious how your son feels about moving to a new country.
mseh,
I know you're getting a little frustrated at this point . . . Looking back for your AOR date I see that WAY BACK in April you were hoping for an IA in a short period of time.
Crossing our fingers you'll get some word soon . . . .
Tom - I just asked him...
5YO: Ooooh, do we have to take a plane?
Me: No, we'll drive.
5YO: Yippeeeeee!
[Pause]
5YO: Can we keep our car?
[Pause]
Me: If someone said, "Hey, I hear you're moving to Canada," what would you say?
5YO: "Yessss, I ammmmm!"
There you have it!
As for the "Detroit thing," Yes, they are clearly having issues.
WEB - I still think we'll be okay for a 30 June 2007 landing, but, yeah, I've got my fingers crossed.
Have a great weekend, guys!
He sounds pretty cool with it to me. That's great that he has such a spirit of adventure.
