OTTAWA, Sept. 18 — A government commission on Monday exonerated a Canadian computer engineer of any ties to terrorism and issued a scathing report that faulted Canada and the United States for his deportation four years ago to Syria, where he was imprisoned and tortured.

I was horrified when I first heard that story. I am glad to see Canada has a much stronger moral compass that seeks to corrects it's wrongs. The US just keeps trying moving in the wrong direction.

Yes, and the US will continue to move in the wrong direction as long as bush and company don't have any organized opposition. Unfortunately, they are controlling the debate and I'm afraid their kind will continue to control it for the foreseeable future.
