Window on the World

Today's New York Times has a a piece, "Designs on America." The caption to this one is: "Apart from indicating love for one’s country, this window also provides an undeniably American view of the world." I thought it was funny.

But, on this Veteran's/Remembrance Day, an article that I missed last April begins: "Prime Minister Stephen Harper faced a storm of criticism on Tuesday for his decision to halt the flying of the flag at half-staff for Canadian troops killed in Afghanistan, and for refusing to allow news coverage of the return of the bodies of four soldiers recently killed there."

The beat goes on...

Did Haper give a valid reason for not lowering the flag?

If not for the troops, then who is more deserving of this homage?
