Short Rant
Thursday afternoon. Wrapping up some things at my desk. Pick up message. Return call. It's an acquaintance who, with her husband, has also applied for PR. I call back. Nice to hear from her. She has a few questions. She's a bit panicked because... they have received the request for their medicals and they had hoped things wouldn't move this quickly. Oh, did I say that they applied in January 2006? We applied in June 2005. We have a nice chat. I answer her questions. Good to hear from her. But, I've pretty much stopped looking at things like Trackitt because it's just so annoying. Now I hear it in real time. Grrrr... I fired an e-mail off to the attorney to see what the latest is that they're seeing. On 17 October they were seeing Detroit process AORs from April 2005. If they stay on track we'll hear something next month. I'm sure I'll get some formal "Yes, they are slow" response as has happened before. Detroit sucks. Then I go home. I'll spare you the details, but let's just say we have a sick dog. I got home at 4 to meet 5YO's bus and was still cleaning up at 6:30. He made it through the night without event. I hope today is better on all counts! ;-)

mseh,
That is interesting news about your friend. Where is her application being processed?
Our application was given a file number on 11/7/05 and there is no movement whatsoever. As far as we know it is being processed - or sitting, anyway - in Ottawa or maybe(?)Buffalo.
Would be interesting to find out where hers is . . .
They applied through Buffalo and didn't get transferred. I forget, did you guys get transferred? Feel free to reply via e-mail.
Check your email, mseh.
Your friends got an amazingly quick response. I have never heard anyone with less than one year from the AOR.
I have - for US citizens applying through Buffalo - but not anyone who got transferred! :-(
I figure that maybe we'll here about medicals approx. 13 months after AOR, which puts us at about March 2007. I didn't know it ever went faster for anyone. We are U.S. citizens applying through Buffalo and, as far as we know, have not been transferred. I'm curious to know what makes that couple so special.
Right now, I'm freaking out about other things anyway.
About sick animals: very stressful. I feel like I should be able to do more, I feel bad if they appear to be suffering in any way, and I feel guilty because I'm so unhappy when I have to clean up after them (and I know it's not their "fault." Plus the vet bills. I feel for you. And we don't have human children to take care of. Hats off to you.
btw ... I had trouble accessing and leaving comments on your blog for a few days. I think between blogger beta and Internet Explorer 7, there are some issues to be worked out. (In the meantime, I'm waiting to change to blogger beta having already switched to I.E. 7)
