Mixed Bag

It looks as though Webb will be declared the victor in VA giving the Democrats control of the Senate as well as the House. Lots of good wins. And, I am particularly astounded that my former state of Arizona became the first state to defeat an anti-same-sex marriage ballot measure. I am glad that South Dakota, although they passed such a measure, defeated the attempt to prohibit virtually all abortions. Then, there's Rummy's departure. It's almost too much to process. But, as suggested by my friends at Canadian Hope and Life Without Borders, it's hard to celebrate the good news when our families are getting slapped in the face by thousands upon thousands of US voters who feel the need to amend their state constitutions to protect marriage. Fuck them. And don't even get me started on the complete nutcase that the MN 6th has put in the House. Check this out if you want to know more. She's a complete wack-job. I'm glad that the DFLers (Democratic-Farmer-Labor party) in Minnesota have control of both chambers in our legislature. I'm glad that it appears that the Democrats will have complete control of the US Congress. I'm glad that Bush got his ass kicked. I'm glad some really decent people will be in Washington. But, I still can't wait to get out of here.
