Well, I've been wanting to feel like we were one step closer! After reading all kinds of posts about when folks submitted their FBI documents I sent a note to our attorney. Unlike a lot of folks, we had been told explicitly not to submit them with the original application. Well, because of where we appear to be in the queue, today we received the go ahead from the attorney's office to get our fingerprints and request the FBI clearance. Yea!!!
The bad news is that I also have to get a clearance from Germany because I lived there more than six months. But, the potentially good news is that the request of state clearances is at the discretion of the immigration officer and that even if they ask for them I would need them only from those states where I lived for more than six months. That is fabulous because if I do need them, it halves the number from twelve states to six! So, we inch along!
And, if you don't get the Efram Zimbalist reference, you're either too young and/or you don't remember Sunday nights with the F-B-I! ;-)

Thanks for the Council of Canadians link! Sounds like a good organization - signed up for a lot of their email alerts.
It appears your attorney is betting your application is getting near the beginning of the line, eh? That's great news . . . . No doubt by getting ours in early we will be asked to redo them as the PR gets closer. We'll see . . . .
Yes, judging by what is happening with others, they seem to think we'll get our IA in June. Since it can take 8-10 weeks to get the cards back from the FBI... Hopefully we can get the prints done and off this week!
It's kind of odd to want things to keep moving since it's looking like we'll not be able to move until summer '09, but just having the visas will seem like such a hurdle, even if we're not living there yet.
Our FBI clearance - the one accepted as legible anyway - was accepted 2 months and 2 days after being FEDexed to them. Make sure both of you have dry fingers, or they'll get "smudged" and have to be redone!
I meant to ask you as another reference was made to delaying moving up there - today's comment indicates summer '09. Any reason for the delay? Reply to my email if uncomfortable posting here . . .
I'm sending you Eleanor Clift's Newsweek article via separate email . . . pretty good one . . .
Cheers!
I'll send a more informative e-mail soon. The short answer is the timing of jobs, school, etc. and the difficulty of transferring, etc. No wish to delay, nor second thoughts - just having to be obedient to the calendars. :-(

Thanks for the email explaining timing for you.
The link to your work didn't operate, however. Try it again as I'd like to check it out.
Cheers!
