Not so random thoughts...

and in no particular order.

1. It's snowing, again.

2. P is back - for good!

3. 7YO is beyond excited for tomorrow.

4. Our builder is the devil.

5. The devil is in the details.

6. An anonymous donor gave $1,000,000 to the folks in Burnsville, MN, mostly already poor, whose apartment complex was destroyed by fire. Those are the stories you like to see.

7. Al Franken is up by 46 votes in the never ending recount in Minnesota.

8. Another expat family has arrived. The folks at Alice in Canada crossed the border last night. Woo-hoo!

9. I love our wood stove.

10. I think we need to buy a snow blower.

11. We're starting to think that most of the people in New Brunswick are crooks.

12. We hope we're wrong.

13. Crazy as it sounds, Facebook and my blogger friends saved (some degree of) my sanity these past four months. Thank you!

14. I'm still able to get up from sitting without pain. Thank heavens for Cortisone.

15. I'm looking forward to a new year that is much less stressful than the past year has been.

16. We're trying to figure out what our next car will be. We're torn between a more practical vehicle for where we live v. a smaller, fuel efficient vehicle. Even if we could get our hands on one, we can't afford a hybrid SUV. Advice is welcome.

Okay, I have to go sequester myself and do some gift wrapping. Then it's one more run to the store before we hunker down for the holiday. Regardless of what you celebrate, or do not, best wishes for a wonderful winter weekend!

Love the list. I'll compose one of my own!

Cool list. Enjoy your winter weekend too!

Our condo builder is the devil too. I just hope you don't have to deal with them for a year like we are experiencing. We're still not registered yet.

Re: #16 -- might I recommend a cute little Subaru... I drive the Impreza which is actually in the SUBCOMPACT category, but it's all-wheel drive which is awesome in the snow and in hilly areas. It's a titch gas guzzly COMPARED to other subcompacts, but 9L/100km which is much lower than an SUV. All Subarus are built on the same platform -- the Impreza, Outback and Legacy, and they are mostly station wagons... which I love.

Happy holidays to you and yours and YAY that P is back!!

Yes, I had a '98 Outback Sport and loved it. One of the Impreza wagons is under review!

I like the list format. Sometimes I want to say a lot, but cannot compose a piece that ties everything together.

Enjoy Christmas with your family in your winter wonderland!

Great list...it is inspiring me to do the same.

We are torn also over a new vehicle at some point in the future. My other half wants electric or hybrid. After the snow this week I would like something that can get up our hilly road! Good luck on your choice. Friends of ours have a funky Honda Element with all wheel drive. Hmmm....

Have a very Merry Christmas!! And all snug in your new home too...how lucky you all really are!

#2 is my favourite!

How 'bout a Mazda 3 hatchback or Toyota Matrix? They both get pretty good reviews, and I feel like they'll be around to honour a warranty in a few years. Although "drf" just clicked over 100,000 miles on his Subaru Forester back in Florida . . . .

Funny! P is taken with the Honda Element. And, we were just looking at the Matrix and the Mazda 5 last night. As for the hybrid/electric v. something more "winter-worthy," we're thinking that there will be more and better hybrid/electric options in several years when we need to replace our Civic. Since we will eventually need two cars, we're thinking that the next one will be the "winter-worthy" model and we'll wait on the hybrid/electric. BTW, Honda is bringing out a new version of the Insight. It looks amazingly like the Prius. Interesting... Thanks for your input. Looks like great(expat) minds think alike!

Boycott Honda, they do not provide benefits for same sex families.

Happy Holidays!!!

According to Egale, Honda Canada was doing so by at least 2000. Honda US added same-sex partner benefits earlier this year. BUT, I know that they were "rolling them out" at different times in different states, but I thought they were up to speed now. If not, that's really too bad.

So glad P is home for good! Also, blogger/Facebook friends saving sanity does not sound the least bit crazy to me. I know it very very well.
